This review will be longer than most to hopefully help those considering buying it, as I have owned one for about 9 months now and have done a lot of km’s, so I know the good and the bad. I use this scooter to commute to work, having previously caught the bus. My commute each way is 30km, and I now get to work much faster than I previously did by bus, and of course I save the money I was previously spending. I have now done well over 3000km’s, which is apparently way higher than average use.
Overall, I strongly recommend buying this scooter, even though I have had a lot of issues with it. And I mean A LOT. The bang for buck of this scooter is incredible, and the service from Michael is excellent. If it were not for these things, I would not be able to recommend.
The good:
PRICE – you simply won’t find anything else to match the capability and features at this price point, not even the same ballpark.
SERVICE – Michael is very helpful and responsive. I have had many dealings with him and he always responds quickly to my messages and tries to ensure my issues are resolved.
FEATURES – the throttle controller is excellent, and much easier on the fingers than the pull-lever mechanism. Suspension is fantastic. Easy to fold up and pack into a car (although it is quite heavy – requires some strength to lift on your own). Security feature is great. All of this included in the price with the power this thing delivers is really incredible.
FUN – this scooter is fast. Very fast. Stay safe out there because it burns everything else on the bikeway! Get some practice without anyone around for a while to fully get used to it.
The bad:
BUILD QUALITY – sadly some of the issues I had were simply because it wasn’t put together properly, which was incredibly frustrating. The charger port for example came loose very early on, and to tighten it, you have to undo everything and expose all the internal wiring to get to the nut. Very fiddly and frustrating. There were numerous other issues too and if it wasn’t for Michael’s helpfulness I might have thrown the damn thing off a bridge. After all this, the internal control unit completely failed, thankfully within warranty period, but this meant I was stranded and had to get an uber home, then take it to Michael to get fixed.
BRAKES – Get used to adjusting the brakes. A LOT. You will wear the pads down every few hundred kilometres, and in between you will need to adjust them. Learning how to do this is important because it can be quite fiddly. To adjust the fixed pad, you need to take the whole calliper off. It is then a bit tricky to get the alignment right to get the rotor nicely fitted between the two pads. You really need to be hands on to own this scooter. Apparently, the pads wear so quickly because there is no ‘engine’ braking as you normally get in e-scooters where mechanical braking is supplemented by effectively putting the motor into reverse mode, which can cause worse issues in the long run for such a high power motor. It is a deliberate positive design feature to protect the motor, but does mean that the only thing to slow you down is the brakes. At the speed this thing goes, they will wear out. Have some spare brake pads handy at all times.
INSTRUCTIONS – completely inadequate, resulting in heavy reliance on Michael to personally help with issues. What is really needed are proper step-by-step guides on how to look after and service the scooter.
RANGE – the range is not 60km unless you drive very conservatively on single motor mode on level ground. If you drive it like you stole it, expect no more than 40km.
OVERALL – despite the many infuriating issues I have experienced, I would thoroughly recommend this machine. The price is ridiculously good, Michael is excellent, and it is bags of fun.
Bought the Turbo ultra V3 from Michal in Sunnybank great service and communication even helped me out with a few problems I was having and even offered me a swap if the problems were not solved all in all o recommend these guys and there products amazing service thanks again
Among all the scooters I've owned over the years, this one stands out as the best. It's incredibly fast, powerful, and provides a great sense of safety. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-speed scooter with impressive power and top-notch safety features!
I got the Ultra V2 for my son's 18th birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect gift! He absolutely adores it. The first time he tried it, the speed impressed both of us and brought us so much excitement.
Recently upgraded from a segway, needed more power. This scooter did not disappoint. Ticked all my boxes. Highly suggest getting it, the twist throttle is really cool.
